  • Wild Canadian Sablefish

    Sablefish is a deep-water groundfish species. Elongate in shape, Sablefish are dark grey to black on their upper body with a lighter grey underside. Sablefish can be 115 cm long and weigh up to 25 kg. The oldest Sablefish recorded in BC is 92 years.

The mission of the Canadian Sablefish Association is to promote the interests of Canadian commercial Sablefish licence holders and to develop programs that protect the sustainability of the wild Canadian Sablefish resource and fishery. Members of the Canadian Sablefish Association practice stewardship of the Sablefish resource by investing in scientific research and ongoing stock and fishery monitoring. We strive to foster a cost effective and profitable fishery that delivers a high-quality, wild seafood product.
